Back To The Drawing BoardJune 28, 2004More than 180 Congress members from both sides of the aisle signed a letter to EPA Administrator Michael Leavitt calling for a new airborne mercury emissions rule. The letter, which included 20 Republican signatories, called for a reduction in airborne mercury levels beyond the 29 percent proposed by the Bush administration. It also cited the EPA's "continuing failure to take into account both its own analyses and the potential presented by existing technology" when making decisions about mercury pollution levels. Check out the letter to Leavitt, and be sure to also read the original letter that Congress members circulated to colleagues in April and May to drum up support. SEE THE DOCUMENTS |
