A Fair Test?

Despite good intentions, the No Child Left Behind legislation has failed to live up to its promise.  Not only has the law been underfunded, but the Bush administration has equated standardized testing with accountability. Worse, school districts worried about being "restructured" if their students test poorly are directing teachers to drill students specifically to pass the tests —rather than teaching a rich, well-rounded curriculum. The Campaign for America's Future asked the experts at FairTest to evaluate how NCLB handles accountability—and offer a progressive alternative. SEE THE REPORT
