Only In America?

March 25, 2005

Wal-Mart is currently the primary sponsor of Good Morning America's 'Only In America' series, featuring  the brave stories of modern American heroes.  What's wrong with this picture?  Well, to start with, consider that 70 percent of Wal-Mart items are made overseas, often in sweatshops. With Wal-Mart's inventory increasingly manufactured in places like China, domestic manufacturing wages are dropping as a result.  Wal-Mart's sponsorship of 'Only In America' is a desperate attempt to link their brand with values we all believe in.  Join the United Food and Commercial Workers' Union in telling ABC that you're not buying it.  ACT NOW
